The Climate Change Innovation Grant program by IIM Udaipur Incubation Centre in collaboration with Transworld Group under TIDE 2.0 scheme focuses on supporting early-stage climate tech ventures whose products or services are explicitly focused on reducing GHG emissions or addressing the impacts of global warming.
We want to provide you and your startup with state-of-the-art mentoring and online training, as well as access to financial support and networking opportunities. The bottom line is success, both for you and your start-up and for the environment with tangible climate solutions.
We are looking for solutions that are addressing the challenges in the following categories:
Generating electricity and heat energy accounts for around one-third of global greenhouse gases emissions each year. Finding net zero sources of energy – which are also reliable and affordable – is vital to limiting the effects of climate change.
We look for clean energy innovations that advance grid resilience, democratize energy, and enable the electrification of transportation, industry, and infrastructure in a green manner.
With the transportation sector accounting for 16% of global emissions, we need to reinvent how people and goods move across neighbourhoods and around the world. Entrepreneurs are building companies that revolutionize shared mobility, enable the mass adoption of electric vehicles and fleets, slash emissions from freight and aviation, and deliver new revenue streams to cities and towns.
We are interested in entrepreneurs who accelerate the transition to clean and equitable mobility systems.
The food systems that feed the world’s population account for 19-29% of global GHG emissions. But just as food production and consumption are key drivers of climate change, creating a regenerative food system can help us sequester carbon in soil and create healthier waterways, oceans, and ecosystems.
We seek innovations that make our agricultural systems more sustainable and increase access to law carbon food, tools, land, and resources for farmers and consumers.
The shipping sector accounts for about 80% of the volume of global trade and is directly responsible for approximately 3% of global greenhouse (GHG) emissions. To limit global warming to below 1.5 degree Celsius, the shipping industry must be decarbonized by 2050.
We are interested in solutions that can help the shipping sector towards transition away from fossil fuels, improve supply chain and logistics efficiency, optimize ship designs and operations, provide alternative and low carbon energy fuel, etc.
Buildings and construction are responsible for 39% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Operational emissions (generated from energy used to heat, cool and light buildings) account for nearly two-thirds of this, while the rest comes from embodied carbon emissions, or the ‘upfront’ carbon that is associated with materials and construction processes. To eliminate the carbon footprint of the built environment, both buildings and the materials they are made from must therefore be more efficient, smarter, and cheaper than those used today.
We seek technological innovations that can access and reduce the carbon footprint of buildings and occupants.
Our mass production and mass disposal model is linear, meaning that waste is mainly lost and not reused. We need to abandon the linear, extractive model of how we use resources and adopt the circular economy model - Reuse, Upcycle, Recycle, Repair and the Reduction of Resources rather than their disposal.
We are looking for tech innovations that can help create a zero-waste society and lower the carbon footprints of cities locally and globally.
